Jawa Demam refers to the half bird, half human deity grip, while Palembang is a region in Sumatra, Indonesia. Early 1900s.
The 15 1/4 inch 8 luk (dips in blade) wavy blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt, though some age deterioration (minor edge roughness) towards the point. The well carved hilt in good condition; nice mendak cup. The two sheath segments are a little loose; what appears to be three mounting frame holes filled in; barely noticeable. The keris sheathes and draws well.
Really nice example at the decent price of was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference ZZ94. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1816-52x15x14 (0.750)
