The sword of Lt. Col. Cuthbert John Eccles DSO, provenance by descent of the Eccles family. No maker’s or retailer’s details to the ricasso / forte, so probably made just prior to the Boer War. Serial number 99824 to the blade’s spine.

The 35 3/8 inch period sharpened, exceptionally well etched blade with 16th Lancers badge and battle honours is in pretty much as new condition and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt is good but with light rust patches (would clean off if desired). The black fishskin grip is good but with wear; the associated twisted grip wire bindings are in good order. Original / period sword knot (may be a WW1 era replacement) in good condition for age. The leather field service scabbard in fairly good condition. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Stonking word with full provenance. Yours to invest in and cherish for £1500. Please quote item reference ZZ64. Full sized / additional photos upon request. Box 1783-112x15x14 (1.675)
