Hobson, a quality maker. Boer War era. And the officer’s family crest and his initials (C P C) etched to the blade; any heraldry buffs out there?
The 34 3 / 8 well etched blade is in good condition for the most part but has a large light rust patch one side plus a few areas of patina pitting elsewhere, most around the edges. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard is good condition but with some age / light rust. The fishskin grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings are in good condition. The original leather sword knot with age and cracks. The leather field service scabbard with age, war, stains, etc. is sound / fairly good. The sword sheaths and draws well. The all weather carry bag is aged but pretty much complete / sound.
