Blade etched to “C Smith & Son 5 New Burlington Street London”, the top scabbard locket engraved “Goldneys late Nield St James’s Srtt Sword Cutler to H R H the Prince of Wales”; this sword is very late Victorian, circa 1899.

The well etched 30 3/4 inch blade has light rust patches but is sound and firm in the hilt. The hilt with VR Cypher guard is in good condition, as is the twisted wire grip. The scarce original sword knot is aged and fraying but sound enough. The leather and gilt brass scabbard is in poor condition, the chape missing (black shoe polish may improve the life and look). The sword sheathes and draws well.
Actually, based on the hilt / grip / knot, this is a good sword at a good price, was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference ZZ30. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1734-96x15x14 (1.113)
