Quality grey / gray etched, so a good maker, but no maker’s / retailer’s name etched to the ricasso / forte and blank brass proof slug, so likely 1917/1918 when production needs outweighed protocol. No officer’s name nor initials to be found anywhere, further indicating 1917/1918 but no chance to identify them, alas.

The 31 3/8 inch blade in good to very good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt with some gilt remaining is good, some tarnish (can be carefully removed). Fishskin grip in very good condition,as are the twisted grip wire bindings. Sword knot good but aged and fraying. Scabbard good but has a kink going on split towards the chape. Folding guard section works well and locates onto the scabbard pin as it should. The sword sheaves and draws well. Leather belts and all weather bag good but aged.
Perfect WW1 RN ensemble in above average condition. £700 is a bargain, truly. Please quote item reference ZZ08. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1639-110x15x14 (2.425).
