In good condition, an Armfields of Birmingham WW1 era British Royal Artillery Officer’s Sword

Etched to George V, almost certainly the Royal Artillery officer saw active service during WW1. Etched at the forte to “Armfield Ltd Birmingham”.



The 34 3/4 inch very well etched blade is in very good good condition, save for a few few patina patches with light pitting. Blade firm in hilt. The plated steel hilt / guard has age (plating bubbles / patchy losses), but is sound; remains of leather field service sword knot attached is in aged / poor condition. The black fishskin grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings are in good condition. The leather field service scabbard is aged / worn but still good; the sword sheathes and draws well.
