Includes Sword, Knot, Scabbard and Carry Bag.
No maker’s or retailer’s name to the blade, but very high quality, so probably made for a smaller retailer that did not have their own etch plate with the maker. The hesian carry bag is probably the best bag we have ever seen. Officer’s initials “H R C” to the inside of the bag hood raises the prospect that he may able to be identified; researchers!
The 32 1/4 inch well etched blade is better one side than the other condition wise (patina patches), but the blade is generally good to very good and firm in the hilt; proof slug absent. The plated steel hilt with King Edward VII’s cypher to the cartouche of the guard is very good. The black fishskin grip a little age faded is nonetheless very good, the twisted grip wire bindings also. The leather field service scabbard has age / wear but is good. The hesian carry bag is just great. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Very attractive sword, etc. Well worth £475. Please quote item reference ZY77. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1930 107 x 15 x 16 (2.06).
