We bought this sword from the Ministry of Defence’s disposal agent. Unfortunately they uneccessarily took it upon themselves to file off the serial number on the spine believing they needed to do that; the remains can just be seen and the sword is warranted to be a genuine Wilkinson. NB: Wilkinsin Sword stopped fitting proof slugs into their blades in the 1960’s due to the cost; they thereafter simply etched their “W” proof logo, as is the case here.

The 30 5/8 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt / guard is in good condition; the folding guard section works well. The fishskin grip is a little grubby between the nodes (bumps), but otherwise is very good, so too the twisted grip wire bindings. The brass fittings on leathr scabbard is good, soome light wear / scuffs; the locking pin on the top fitting is absent. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Likely to be 60 years old yet still looking good! Take it out of retirement for was £? (too late, now sold) Please quote item reference ZY43. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1869 97x11x11 (1.481).
