Made by Châtellerault, dated April 1896, so most likely a Chasseurs a Cheval Cavalry Trooper’s Sword as it when this sabre model was adopted by them. Matching rack numbers (96) to the guard / hilt and scabbard. This guaranteed authentic m1822 is virtually as new.
The impressive 92cm / 36 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in both the hilt and grip. The brass hilt / guard is also in exceptionally good condition. The original leather covered grip has only the slightest age and wear, while the twisted grip wire bindings are all present and correct. The correct single suspension ring steel scabbard is also in very good condition. The sabre sheathes and draws well.
Amazingly good condition and at the bargain price of was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference ZY21. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1844 121x18x16 (3.461).
