No maker or date marks but clearly period / authentic (feint markings around the forte suggest these were once present). Modeled after the French m1816 gladius, a United States m1832 Foot Artillery & Infantry Sergeants Sword. In service until 1872 with foot artillerymen, it was also issued to infantry sergeants and musicians from 1832 until 1840.
The 19 inch blade has some patina patches and wear but remains in good condition and firm in the hilt. The one piece brass hilt and “fish scale” grip is aged and worn but good. The nicely patina aged brass fittings on leather scabbard has wear and a fold line one side but remains fairly good; frog button present / good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
