With raised strung bugle and “K S L I” abbreviation to the cartouche of the guard, this is a scarce / rare special hilted “1827P” Victorian British rifle officer’s sword. Plus, the officer’s name is etched to the blade “(first initial worn) D Faulkner”, so research is possible. Part retailer’s name to forte / ricasso.

The 32 inch blade is in aged (some inert pitting and patina) and worn condition, but sound and firm in the hilt. The plated / replated hilt / guard has a mark or two but is good. The grip has lost some fishskin surface layer to expose a blackened wood base; the main twisted grip wire binding is present and appears to be correct, but some lesser wire turns are astray or sections missing. The plated steel scabbard has broken / snapped in half (taped together) but is otherwise quite good. The sword sheathes and draws a little loosely.
Such a rare special hilt 1827P Victorian British KSLI Rifle Officer’s Sword and at a really affordable price, just £550. Please ask for item reference ZX88. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 2066 103 x 17 x 17 (2.018).
