GV = (King) George 5th. Serial number 63320 (on spine of the blade) for 1932. This 1897 pattern British infantry officer’s sword has both (plated) steel and leather (field service) scabbards; the plated steel scabbard has regimental markings and year abbreviations dating back to 1902, so this scabbard is not original to the sword.

The 32 3/8 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt / guard has age, a milky light tarnish (can be cleaned off), and is in good condittion. The fishskin grip is a little aged / faded / worn but is good; the twisted grip wire bindings are good but a lesser strand is a little wayward one side. Leather sword knot strap remains are as seen. Both scabbards are generally good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Very nice example! Very good price; £550. Please ask for item reference ZX84. Further / full sized photos available upon request. Box 2064 107 x 16 x 15 (2.55).
