Marked to W. Clauberg Solingen on the forte, plus FW 61 under crown to the spine (for 1861 manufacture). Matching regiment and serial numbers tot the guard and upper scabbard suspension ring; “D 13 2 30” (13th Dragoons, 2nd Troop, Weapon 30). The m1852 was the replacement for the similar ill fated m1849 which never actuually saw Prussian service but were instead sold to the British who used / named them as their 1850P Royal Engineers Drivers sword.
This m1852 has a small period nick to the cutting edge of the blade which indicates combat use in the Second Schleswig or Austro-Prussian War.

The 34 inch blade has some age and a small period nick to the cutting edge but is otherwise good, plus firm in the hilt. The impressive wide steel three bar guard has some patina but is good; the original leather wrist strap is present within the hilt / guard and although aged is quite good. The ribbed black grip has age but is sound / good. The quite heavy steel scabbard has a small ding / dent here and there, mostly around the drag, but remains good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Very impressive and fairly heavy Prussian m1852 dragoon trooper’s sword at £700. Please quote item reference ZX72. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box?
