Unknown (to us) poinçons, possibly Italian / Bergnastell circa 1814 or Coulaux / Chatellerault circa 1830. The hilt form and weapon number “5” marking is unmistakable An XI, not another briquet form from another country.
The 23 1/8 inch blade has age and some old nicks to the cutting edge, but is quite good nonetheless and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard and ribbed grip is aged and worn, but good. Scabbard absent.
Iconic sword, just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference ZX70. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 2054 77 x 13 x 13 (1.723).
