A Chatellerault France made French Gras Modele (Model) 1874 Bayonet and Scabbard in good condition. Marked “Mre d’Armes de Chat – Mai 1876” (Manufactured at the Chatellerault Arms Factory in May 1876).
The 20 1/2 inch blade is in aged (scuffs, some patina) but good condition, and firm in the hilt. The steel crossguard is aged (patina) and a little worn. The brass hilt is a little scuffed. The wood grip is a little worn / scraped with some tiny dryness surface cracking. The locking mechanism is stiff. The steel scabbard with age / wear. The bayonet sheathes and draws well.
