Guaranteed authentic: Be careful, there are MANY reproductions being sold as authentic elsewhere (common reproduction errors include too long a sarute loop, bohi blade groove too far from habaki, etc.)
This authentic WW2 Imperial Japanese NCO’s Shin Gunto has Kokura arsenal markings, plus matching blade and saya (scabbard) serial numbers (144252).
The 27 3/8 inch nagasa (cutting edge section) blade has scour cleaning marks and some inert pitting towards the point but is otherwise in good condition and firm in the tsuka / grip / hilt. The tsuka and tsuba (guard) in worn (original tsuka paint mostly gone) but good condition. The saya (scabbard) has lost its original paint, plus has some wear (minor dings / scuffs) and age (small light patina patches) but is good. The sword sheathes and draws well; the locking pin mechanism works well.
