Marked to Woolley & Deakin on the blade’s spine, plus Woolley & Deakin Birmingham to the scabbard, this British 1796 Pattern Light Cavalry Trooper’s Sword & Scabbard looks its 200 year old age. With British Crown over 1 inspection / view mark to the blade, this sabre looks to have seen action with an aged nick to its cutting edge.

The 32 1/2 inch blade is in good overall condition and firm in the hilt. The stirrup hilt / guard is good but aged with a light inert rust / patina throughout. The original leather covered grip is aged / worn with patches of loss and worm holes. The steel scabbard has inert rust pitting and has lost one of its suspension rings. The sword sheathes and draws a little loosely; no doubt the thin wooden slat scabbard liners are gone.
An honest authentic Napoleonic Wars 1796p LC sword that just may have seen action at a famous battle, just £850. Please quote item reference ZX41. Further / full sized photos available upon request. Box 2020 107 x 20 x 12 (2.31).
