Etched at the forte / ricasso “E W Cracknell, Outfitters, Portsmouth”. Serial number 4079 to the blade’s spine. Master at Arms swords are much scarcer than regular RN officer swords and can be distinguished by their plain dome pommels.
The 31 1/4 inch well etched blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt / guard in good to very good condition; the folding guard section of the guard works well and locates onto the securing pin of the scabbard. The blackened fishskin grip is a little faded but good; the twisted grip wire bindings are absent. The leather scabbard with brass fittings has age / some scuffs but is good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
