A guaranteed authentic AP (for Atelier de Précision) / Versailles Hatchet Point French Waterloo era Cuirassier Trooper’s Sword with original scabbard.
AP bladed swords are much scarcer than Klingenthal blade swords; this Atelier de Precision bladed An XIII heavy cavalry (Cuirassier) trooper’s sword also has both a Versailles hilt / guard and unmodified / original hatchet point (most were regiment converted / filed back / down to be spear point).
Possibly if not probably a Waterloo / 100 Days War, or even Peninsular War British veteran’s battlefield trophy.
The 37 7/8 inch straight blade is in good condition, some wear, firm in the hilt. The solid brass guard / hilt has some tarnish / wear but is in good condition. The original leather grip has a dryness shrinkage or other gap at the seam and has lost its twisted grip wire bindings, but is sound and relatively thick still. The heavy steel scabbard has suffered moist air exposure and thereby has rust pitting, mostly towards the drag, but is still good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
