Late 29th Century or early 20th Century, the acid test proves this antique Burmese dha is silver (the outer layers of the hilt and scabbard). With later scabbard inscription “Presented by Mr P.S. Choudhury to Capt Kyawsein G.E. Of No. 2. Bur Wks Sec Meikila'”.
The 23 3/4 inch traditionally forged steel blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The sterling silver hilt with (probably not silver) fine filigree work is in good condition but with some age and wear (small gap in silver outer layer exposing inner wooden base). Silver (over wooden base) scabbard with matching filigree and inscription in good condition (with age / wear). The sword sheathes and draws well.
Great example and the tremendously low price of £600. Please quote item reference ZX18. Further / full sized phottos available upon request. Tube 2000 100 x 14 (1.86).
