The maker’s / retailer’s name on the blade is too feint for us to determine, but they were in Portsmouth, England’s primary naval base town. An Early Victorian British Royal Naval / Navy Officer’s Sword with Pipe Back, Quill Point Blade, plus the remains of the original sword knot and good for its age original Scabbard.
The pipe back, quill point blade is worn and aged but the etching is still visible, and the blade very good for its age. Blade firm in hilt. The fishskin grip aged and grubby with a drying crack one side is nonetheless good, plus the associated twisted grip wire bindings are present and correct. The brass hilt / guard with Victorian crown over a fouled anchor to the cartouche is in good condition; the folding guard section (early version without a hole for a scabbard securing pin) works well. Sword knot remains in aged and ragged condition. Original leather and brass scabbard very good for age. The sword sheathes and draws well.
