A Klingenthal made French Model 1821 Infantry Officer’s Sword and Scabbard with bufalo horn grip.
The 29 1/2 inch plain blade has age and wear (patina patches, streaks, some small patches of light pitting, scratches, etc.) but is still good and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard is in very good condition for its age. The bufalo horn grip has some tiny hairline cracks but is overall in very good condition; the fine twisted grip wire bindings are amazingly not only still there but also in good condition. The leather and brass fittiings scabbard has a tape repaired break and the chape is somewhat battered with some loss, but is sound if handled properly. The sword sheathes and draws well if done with care.
Scarce sword and with a legal (bufalo) horn grip; spectacularly low priced at was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference ZX11. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1985 93 x 16 x 15 (1.737).
