Schnitzler and Kirschbaum of Soligen made (S&K mark under langet), this m1833 Mounted Artillery Sabre / Saber is maybe old enough to have seen service in the American Civil War but most likely stayed in Italian hands and perhaps service in WW1.
The 32 5/8 inch plain blade has a couple of tiny nicks to the cutting edge but otherwise, apart from a little age / wear / staining, is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The steel hilt with some inert pitting is nonetheless good. The ribbed wooden grip has age, wear and some chips, and the twisted grip wire bindings are all but gone, but is quite good. The steel scabbard is very nicely browned and has some wear and light pitting towards the drag.
