Very finely carved Ukiran / hilt. Some age; probably early to mid 20C. 8 Luk (curves in blade). Sumatra is part of Indonesia but closely associated with Peninsular Keris.
The wavy hand forged blade has age (a display light mineral oiling would no doubt enhance it aesthetically) and wear but is good. The blade is currently firm in hilt (NB: keris are held tight by paper wrapped around the tang and then inserted / stuffed into their wooden grips, so are prone to loosen but can be remedied by replacing the paper). Hilt / grip in very good condition for age, some tiny minor chips. The sheath has been glue repaired (common) but is good. The keris sheathes and draws well.
A really attractive / good finely carved Palembang Ladrang Keris from Sumatra. Very much well worth the price, £300. Please quote item reference ZW96. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 2207 51 x 13 x 13 (0.813).
