Guaranteed authentic Type 32; not a post war reproduction or a later Chinese police version. These M1889 NCO swords were used extensively by Imperial Japanese sergeants and even lower ranks during World War Two. Serial number to the blade and scabbard chape is 106562.
The 30 1/4 inch period sharpened blade is in good condition, patina streaks throughout, firm in the hilt and grip. The steel hilt in good shape with a steady patina and light speckled pitting. The checkered wooden grip is worn from use. The steel scabbard is overall good. The sword sheathes and draws well, the locking pin mechanism works and holds the scabbard.
