Marked to makers Roby of West Chelmsford Mass (Massachusetts) to the forte, along with the date 1864 and model 1860, “U.S.”, “A.G.M.” (for Alfred G. Manning, an inspector) for either side of the blade’s forte.
The 34 7/8 inch blade has a steady dark patina but is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard has deep tarnish / patina but is good. The original leather grip is aged / worn but good with the remains / some of the twisted grip wire (but not much). Scabbard absent.
