No maker’s / retailer’s name etched to the forte, no details to the plain brass proof stud to the obverse; this likely means mid to late war when such fine detail was less important. Likely WW1 because the blade has the British Royal Coat of Arms etched to it, not a GVI royal cypher, plus (apparent) genuine (not faux) fishskin. No officer’s name engraved to the folding guard section of the hilt.
The 31 1/4 inch blade is in good condition, etching clear, but with some small patina patches, plus firm in the hilt. The brass hilt is in good condition with the plain folding guard section working well. The fishskin grip is good, as are the grip wire bindings. The sword knot with some age / fading / wear / fraying is nonetheless fairly good. The brass fittings and leather scabbard is good, some leather scuffs, some very slight small dings to the fittings. The sword sheathes and draws well.
