In quite good condition, a rare c1908 Afghan Army Officer’s Sabre / Sword and Scabbard

With Arabic type scripts to the langets and a stamp, the seal of the Emirate of Afghanistan (1842-1926), depicting a prayer niche and an Imam’s pulpit (of a Mosque), under the “Hijri” number 1326 for 1908-1909 of the western calendar.



The 25 1/2 inch blade is in good condition anf firm in the hilt. T|he steel hilt with knuckle bow guard is in good condition, but the last steel grip section panels next to the pommel on both sides are absent; the wooden grip section is good. The steel and leather on wood scabbard is aged and the end missing its chape. The sword sheathes and draws a tad stiffly, particularly when near fully sheathed.
