Note the lack of the crown above the fouled anchors on the langets; this shows the sword was made between 1800 and 1805 (The Battle of Trafalgar was 21st October 1805). Who knows, this sword may have been there! Black fishskin grip and plain domed pommel for a junior ranking officer (e.g. lieutenant or even a master at arms / gunnery petty officer).
The 32 inch blade has useful remaining amounts of its blue and gilt etching, pus is firm in the hilt (age, wear, some pitting towards the point). The gilt brass hilt is generally good but the quillon / fornt guard are both lightly bent down. The fishskin grip is aged but very considering is it over 200 years old; the associated twisted grip wire bindings are very good. The leather and brass scabbard is aged with surface cracks etc but sound; the chape is absent. The sword sheathes and draws well.
