Most likely a Royal Naval cutlass, but age / wear / rust have removed any / all markings. This was the pattern of cutlass mostly (by a large degree) carried aboard Lord Horatio Nelson’s fleet of ships during the Battle of Trafalgar.
The 28 1/4 inch blade is well aged (steady dark patina, some pitting) with period damage (a small recessed inward section) to the cutting edge and generall wear etc. commensurate with its age and harsh service life. Blade firm in the “Figure of Eight” hilt / guard. The steel hilt / guard with age / wear is nonetheless good, so too the smooth cyliner steel grip. No scabbard.
