Moll makers mark to the spine of the pipe back blade. India crow’s foot acceptance / view mark to the forte. This 1821P light cavalry trooper’s sword was issued to a British or Indian light cavalry trooper around 200 years ago.
The 35 inch pipe back quill pointed blade has age / wear / some patina, a couple of nicks to the cutting edge and some inert pitting towards the point, yet is good generally, plus firm in the hilt. The steel hilt and three bar guard has inert pitting but is still good. The leather bound ribbed grip has some patches of surface loss, but is good for 200 years old and its harsh service life. The period chemically browned quite heavy steel scabbard has a few dings / dents and some pitting / age / wear but is well above average. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Truly, a well above average example of a Mole 1821p light cavalry sword for a British / Indian trooper, yet at a well below average price, £600. Please quote item reference ZV61. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 2297 110 x 13 x 13 (2.049).
