Includes sword, leather field service scabbard, plated steel dress scabbard, knot, leather suspension frog & straps, and black carry bag; NB, the photos do not show the dress scabbard as it arrived late (but is included).
Serial number 62557 for 1931. Name inked on inside of carry bag is “E. Jones”.
The 32 3/8 inch well etched blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The plated steel hilt with the cypher of King George 5th to the cartouche of the guard is very good, some light milky tarnish (easily cleaned off and brightened with a good finishing polish); caveat, we have not inspected under the sword knot’s bound strap (but believe it to be good). The black fishskin grip is a little faded / worn but good, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The leather sword knot is a bit aged, the strap more so. The leather field service scabbard is a little aged, etc. but very good. The plated steel scabbard is aged / has some milky tarnish but is good. The sword sheathes and draws well. Leather frog is good, the straps with more age. The black carry bag is aged but sound.
