VGC = Very Good Condition. This sword retrospectively (showing his RN history including and since WW2) etched to LT CDR D.A Crockatt O.B.E R.D. R.N.V.R. / R.N.R. Wilkinson sword serial number 102824 for 1974.
The 30 7/8 very well etched blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The gilt brass hilt / guard also is in very good condition; the folding guard section, bearing his initials, works well and locates onto the scabbard’s securing pin. The faux fishskin grip is perhaps a tiny bit grubby but very good, as are the twisted grip wire bindings. The sword knot has a little age but remains very good. The scabbard is very good too, some age / slight wear. The sword sheathes and draws well.
