Etched on the blade to ” LT CDR D A Crockatt O.B.E R.D J.P R.N.R August 1971 Deputy Lieutenant West Riding of Yorkshire 1971 vice Lord Lieutenant West Yorkshire 1985″. Also “From Helen 10th August 1971” (Helen Tatton was his fiancee, see here). Wilkinson serial number 99765 for 1971.
The 32 1/8 inch well etched blade is in very good, almost as new condition, and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard is very good, some signs of use but not a lot (caveat: unable to see under the sword knot but presume also very good). The faux fishskin grip and twisted wire bindings are both very good. The plated steel scabbard also very good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
