Oh, how the world has changed; making a boy’s sword would now be illegal in most European countries. Especially such a well made m1845 / m1855 child’s version of the mid-19C iconic French Infantry Officer’s Sword. No maker’s marks.
The plain 21 1/2 inch blade with central fuller is aged but in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard is very good but for a slight compression on the backpiece. The spiralled fishskin grip has some age and a couple of very small moth holes but remains good; no grip wire bindings (likely never were). The period chemically browned steel scabbard has age and wear but remains very good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A great mid-19C French boy’s sword in well above average condition, just £225. Please quote item reference ZV42. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 2270 77 x 13 x 13 (1.048).
