Very rare Abyssinian Shotel with Russian blade dated 1834 with silver Russian coin dated 1780 to the pommel; horn hilt / grip. Russian inspection marks to the blade’s forte.
The highly curved 34 inch blade is generally in good condition for its age, some small period nicks midway, firm in the hilt. The horn grip / hilt has age and small sections absent to the pommel area, plus age cracks, otherwise good, especially for nearly 200 years old. The leather scabbard is aged and worn, but very good for its age. The sword sheathes and draws a bit tightly, no doubt due to slight leather dryness shrinkage.
