VGC = Very Good Condition. Etched “M C” to blade for “Manchester Constabulary”, “49” to the guard’s quillon for weapon number 49, plus “30” to the side of the scabbard’s top locket for scabbard number 30. The hilt’s / guard’s thumb pin release button is present although a tad wobbly (most get broken off).
The 22 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The brass “stirrup” hilt is also in very good condition; so too the spiral ribbed black fishskin grip (NB no grip wire; probably never was any). The blackened leather and brass fittings scabbard has scuffs / age etc but remains good. The sword sheathes and draws well; the locking mechanism works and holds te scabbard in place.
A genuine Parker Field & Sons Victorian Manchester English police officer’s sword in well above average condittion, justifiably £600. Please quote item reference ZV13, Further / full sized images available upon reuqest. Box 2211 78 x 13 x 13 (1.16).
