Later scabbard. Clear quality Wootz blade. Late 1800’s
Firangis (aka Khandas) were expensive, often seen in the hands of Mughal emperors, Rajpur maharajahs and Deccan sultans as signs pf their status. Wootz steel blades like this one are sought after by collectors.
NB: The small rust patches are easily removed but we have left that to the eventual buyer.
The curved 29 1/4 wootz steel blade has small fairly light rust patches and nicks to the cutting edge but is still good and firm in the hilt. The hilt is generally very good (age and wear excepted) but one langet has some damage. The guard and grip are aged but very good. The modern replacement scabbard is very good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
