Imperial Prussian / German Army Model 1889 Light Infantry Officer’s Dengen Sword (Also Known as a “Kammsrstuck”), with Makers Stamp on the Forte to “Alex Coppel, Solingen”, and on the Spine of Blade Stamped “Crown over W over 05” and also a separate Kaiser Wilhelm II’s Crown, showing it was made in 1905. The Knuckle Guard is Brass and Chased with the Royal Cypher of Kaiser Wilhelm II, and the Prussian Eagle Holding Sword and Sceptre, Brass Pommel and Twisted Wire Covered Fish Skin Grip, with Monogram of Kaiser Wilhelm II Embossed on Grip, and within the Knuckle Guard is a leather thumb strap, complete with period chemically browned Steel Scabbard with Single Suspension Ring.
The 31 1/2 inch blade has some small rust patches towards the point but otherwise is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard is in very good condition. The fishskin grip is in aged and slightly worn but good condition; the associated twisted grip wire bindings are very good. The original leather thumb strap is aged / worn but good. The browned steel scabbard is a little aged but still very good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
