Correct anchor stamps to the cross guard and blade, a “CV” stamp to the underside of the cross guard. This scarce Napoleonic Imperial French An XI Marine Sword was likely around if not there at the Battle of Trafalgar on the on 21st October 1805. Was it there? Well, it has been in the UK for a long long time, so maybe!
The 22 3/4 inch plain blade is in good condition, a nick to the cutting edge, firm in the hilt. The integrated brass hilt, guard and ribbed grip are aged but good. The original leather with brass fittings scabbard is in very good condition for its age. The sword sheathes and draws well.
