Date inscription for state French Imperial Klingenthal manufactured “September 1813” (the Battle of Waterloo was Sunday 18th June 1815), with correct inspection stamps (poinçons) for that date, see / click here. This model An Xi infantryman’s briquet sabre has multiple old / period nicks to the cutting edge (patina inside the nicks with no burr). This sword has been in the UK for “time immemorial”, so clearly a British war trophy (Battle of Waterloo bring back).
The 23 inch plain blade is aged (some cleaned up / inert light pitting patches, etc.) and has several nicks to the cutting edge but remains good and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard and ribbed grip is aged but good. The original leather with brass fittings scabbard is aged but well above average (very good for its age). The sword sheathes and draws well.
