The speckled blade patina indicates a wootz steel blade; certainly traditionally made. The koftgari hilt decoration is worn but still impressive. This Indian Tulwar sword is circa 1870. The felt / fabric scabbard is a later replacement.
The 29 inch blade is aged and worn, with a period chunky nick, but otherwise in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard / grip is aged and worn but good. The later scabbard is very good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
