American Revolutionary War (US War of Independence) era with clear signs it was used in combat (old small nicks to the forward cutting edge (patina runs inside the nicks which have no burr). No maker’s name visible but clearly English made, probably in Birmingham, the then centre of British sword making.
The 31 1/8 inch blade has a steady patina, several small nicks, and is firm in the hilt. The brass guard, knuckle bow, langet, pommel, etc. are aged but good. The grip has lost its once twisted silver metal wire surface, but the wood base remains and is good. Scabbard absent.
A circa 1780 British Infantry Officer’s Sabre with obvious history for only £375. Please quote item reference ZU11. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box?
