So, a triumphant British light cavalry officer comes home from the Peninsular or 100 Days (Waterloo) War with a French cavalry officer’s sword as a war trophy. He removes the French blade, gives it to a British sword cutler who then mounts the French blade into a British cavalry officer’s hilt. That is this sword and almost certainly would have seen Waterloo action given the multiple nicks to the cutting edge.
The 83cm blade with “Mftures Imple Du Klingenthal Coulaux Freres” engraved to the spine and two French inspection poinçons to the forte is in good condition but for the multiple nicks to the cutting edge; firm in the hilt. The hilt in good condition but one langet has gone. The leather grip and associated twisted grip wire bindings are good except for multiple worm holes (worms dead, no extra charge for their remains). There is no scabbard.
