Original owner / officer’s initials “J A R” etched to the blade. Brass scabbard for senior officer (Captain, Adjutant, etc.). Etched at ricasso to quality maker Hobson & Sons, Little Windmill Street, West London.

The 32 inch blade has some wear and patina patches but is good, etching clear, and firm in the hilt. The brass hilt / guard in good order, some green tarnish in the crevices (can be removed), a little indentation to the outer bar, nothing much. The fishskin grip and twisted grip wire bindings are good. Scabbard with a ding towards the chape is otherwise very good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
Maybe “J A R” can be identified with research. In any event, a cracking example of a senior officer’s 1854P for just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference number Z92. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1628 golf (2.015).
