Probably WW2 era. Has not been modified like most were by the Japanese into “Heiho” swords in the former Dutch East Indies (Indonesia).
The 24 1/2 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt and grip with age but good. The leather sword knot strap is aged but sound. The thick field service leather scabbard is aged and a little worn but good. The cutlass sheaves and draws well.
