This is the trooper’s version of the 1821P, except there are no maker / government / army / regiment markings, no grip “ears” and a fishskin (not leather) grip. So, most likely a private / regimental purchase for a sergeant. The sword has real age and is undoubtedly authentic. The blade has not been sharpened.

The 34 1/2 inch blade is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The hilt / guard in good condition; very old (presumed era) black paint starting to come off in places. The fishskin grip with some wear is still good; the associated twisted grip wire bindings present and good, though some movement evident. The blackened steel scabbard is good; black coming off in places, a couple of dings. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A beauty and bargain of a sword, just (was) £750, now £600 . Please quote item reference Z70. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1601-golf (2.179).
