Plain bladed and marked solely “Chatellerault” to the spine of the blade, this is most likely an adjutant’s or NCO’s sword.
The 30 inch blade is in good condition and firm in the grip / hilt. The brass hilt in good shape. The grip is in good condition and the twisted grip wire bindings are present and in good condition. The leather and brass scabbard is fairly good but aged; the leather scuffed in places and has shrunk a little from being dry. The word sheathes and draws well but does not sheathe all the way because the leather has shrunk a little (leather balsam may eventually rectify).
Plain but nice honest example with grip wire intact! Bargain at was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Z67. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1594-111x15x14 (1.792).
