Etched to Wilkinson Sword on the ricasso but no serial number; we therefore can not verify this is a Wilkinson Sword but the quality is Wilkinson, it has very good genuine fishskin on the grip, and it would be perhaps improbable quality fakes were being made in the late 20C / early 21C (we believe this is Wilkinson Sword made). The quality is there and the condition makes this suitable for both serious collectors and serving officers alike (the latter may want to spend some time and TLC improving it). Date? Circa 1970-1975.
The 31 1/4 inch blade is well etched and in overall good condition but some patina / staining / tarnish streaks near the point and general wear befitting the age. Blade firm in the hilt. The hilt good; the folding guard section works well and locates properly onto the securing pin of the top scabbard locket. The white fishskin grip has exceptional authentic rayskin which is a little grubby in places but should clean up if desired; the associated twisted grip wire bindings are good. Sword knot very good. Scabbard good but some age / scuffs / wear; the sword sheathes and draws well. The leather belts with wear / age but good.
