Brass scabbard for senior officer. No maker’s or retailer’s name etched to ricasso of blade, so likely retailed through a smaller retailer or civilian tailor (a retailer that would not have commanded an etching plate at the maker’s). Nice / rare that it still has (most of) its leather hilt insert.

The 32 1/4 inch supremely well etched blade with VR Victorian Cypher is in very good condition and firm in the hilt. The gilt on brass “Gothic” hilt / guard is in very good condition; the leather insert with wear / age and part missing. The fishskin grip in good condition, some wear, the twisted grip wire bindings also good. The sword knot, likely a modern replacement, is very good. The brass scabbard with a few dings / dents is nonetheless good. The sword sheathes and draws well.
A superb example of a very attractive sword in very good condition. Come on, its a bargain at just was £? (too late, now sold). Please quote item reference Z59. Further / full sized images available upon request. Box 1580-Golf (1.967)
